Christmas Outreach | Gift and Food Box Distribution

New Covenant Church members distributed gift and food boxes to individuals and families across Indianapolis. They served a total of about 100 persons the week of December 16-22, 2008. Some of the people and places could not be filmed for privacy or security concerns.

New Generation Artist Performing Arts School

New Generation Artist is a non-profit organization that is committed to teaching history, life-skills, social awareness and raising higher academic standards as an expression through the performing arts. Young people today live in a different world. They face new hazards and challenges sometimes unimaginable.

The Urban Shakespeare’s very popular program was birthed out of Jonathan Thompson’s relationship with young people. He wrote characters and scripts based off the lives, lifestyles and hardships that students have had to over come. Using poetry, music, and the Hip-Hop culture, the presentation is up beat and contemporary.

Jonathan Thompson, founder of New Generation Artist is a Teaching Artist, Actor, Singer, Musician, and Songwriter. He has been working as an artist entertainer for thirty years. He shared platforms with some of the most distinguished entertainers, personalities, politicians and scholars of our times.

Sidney, an ex-offender and partner with Save the Youth Ministries, talks about his involvement with building recreational areas for children at the troubled Phoenix Apartments. Under the direction of Bryon Alston, with supplies from Home Depot and support from Pastor Donald Golder, volunteers, several areas around the complex were beautified.

“See You at the Pole” Rally at Overcoming Church

Youth gather at the Overcoming Church Youth Center to pray and prepare for the annual “See You At The Pole” movement. This nationwide event asks youth to join together around school flag poles to pray for their schools and fellow students.

Brian Carter is the youth minister at Overcoming Church.

The 2008 date for ”See You At The Pole” is Wednesday, September 24.

Pastors lead effort to raze tornado damaged Falcon Point apartments

Location: John Marshall Middle School Parking Lot (Across from Falcon Point Apartments)

Details: Pastors and community people gather to advocate for the promised clean up and demolition of the Falcon Point Apartments destroyed by a tornado on May 30, 2008. 400 families from Falcon Point and surrounding communities were displaced after the tornado. The area has become an eyesore and an environmental hazard.

Jesus Inside Prison Ministry (JIPM), founded by Pastor William Bumphus, is dedicated both in turning people from crime to Christ and providing effective aftercare. For more than 19 years, Pastor Bumphus has travelled to prisons in and outside Indiana preaching the Word to tens of thousands of offenders. Over the years, a great number of men have been born again, released from prison, and are living productive lives.
